I get a fair amount of traffic on this site from people who are searching for information about the invoice module of dotProject.
Seems it’s something not everyone can install successfully, and although that was not my first stumbling block, I do find this module extremely useful AND rather aggravating in some ways.
I have tweaked the module to some extent – in particular, I have added a .jpg logo to the PDF invoice which is generated via the system.
It looks a lot better!
I have had to implement some workarounds too: for example, I add a “task log” to a task I’m billing for which has no cost code and some kind of text like “5% XYZ Tax” or “Invoice Paid In Full – Do Not Pay” (where I’m sending the invoice for something which has been prepaid).
Another foible of the dotProject invoice module is the ordering of the line items.
So far, I can just fiddle around a bit, emptying the line items and then re-adding them, so as to order them correctly (It doesn’t always matter that much – except in the workaround instances as above where taxes or other notes *must* appear at the bottom or top).
Anyway, I do have the invoice module working on my dotProject installations, and I have a lot of answers to common questions.
Feel free to contact me: alison at netdudette.com.
Also, this kind of thing (WordPress sites, Internet Marketing, dotProject setups) is my business: www.netgenus.com
